From Vomero, the Museum Pole of Wonders is born: a new guide for Certosa, Castel Sant'Elmo, and Floridiana

A Carthusian monastery, a castle, a nineteenth-century villa immersed in a park of sixty thousand square meters. Managing the autonomous Museums of Vomero means safeguarding six centuries of history, art, and landscape in three different yet deeply interconnected places.
Today, this great cultural heritage has a new guide.
The General Directorate of Museums of the Ministry of Culture, led by Massimo Osanna, has appointed Almerinda Padricelli, a Neapolitan architect born in 1979, as the director of the hillside complex, a figure who has been a protagonist in recent years in important urban restoration projects.
Among her most significant assignments:
the major redevelopment projects of the Royal Palace of Naples
the restorations and conservation interventions at the San Carlo Theater
Now, a new challenge awaits her: leading the three cultural gems of the Vomero hill.
The three treasures of Vomero
The new museum complex combines three symbolic places of the city:
🏛 Certosa di San Martino
A Baroque masterpiece suspended between art, silence, and breathtaking views.
🏰 Castel Sant’Elmo
The fortress overlooking the Gulf of Naples, home to the Museum of the Twentieth Century and spectacular terraces.
🌿 Villa Floridiana
An elegant nineteenth-century residence immersed in one of the most beloved parks by Neapolitans.
Three different identities, one vision.
"Connections": the keyword of the new direction
"A challenge that I can't wait to start, " declared Padricelli.
The objective is clear:
create a continuous dialogue between the three sites, enhancing their differences and building an integrated experience for citizens and tourists.
The plan includes:
✔️ Restorations and structural maintenance
✔️ Recovery of the historical greenery of Floridiana
✔️ Enhancement of the panoramic terrace of Sant’Elmo
✔️ Redevelopment of the Priore Quarter at the Certosa
✔️ Cultural events and festivals in outdoor spaces
But above all:
🎟 Single ticket
🗺 Shared thematic routes
🌐 New website and visual identity
📱 Dedicated app
🪧 Integrated signage
The idea is to transform the three museums into a large unified cultural complex.
A viewpoint on the future of Naples
Among the most suggestive projects is the enhancement of the terraces of Castel Sant’Elmo, real open-air stages with views of the entire Gulf.
A panorama that could become a symbol of the major upcoming international events, such as the America's Cup.
For those visiting Naples (and staying in Vomero)
For those who choose to stay in Vomero, this new museum complex represents a unique privilege:
in just a few minutes on foot, centuries of art, history, and landscape are crossed, from the monumental silence of the Certosa to the medieval fortresses, to walks in the historical greenery.
A complete, authentic cultural experience, far from the more chaotic flows of the city center.
