Planning a trip to Naples in November? Please note: Capodichino Airport will be closed from November 1 to 30, 2026, for major runway renovation work. ✈️

The closure will affect flight operations, and many travelers will need to use alternative airports. To make getting around easier, GESAC and Busitalia Campania have introduced a special bus service between Naples and Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport.

Here’s everything you need to know to plan your trip and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

✈️ **Why is Naples Airport closing?**

The closure of Capodichino has been scheduled to allow for major runway renovation work. The improvements are needed to upgrade the infrastructure and ensure the required safety standards are met.

The planned schedule is as follows:

**Closure:** November 1–30, 2026.

**Expected reopening:** December 1, 2026.

**Reason:** runway renovation work.

During this period, some flights will be transferred to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport, while other services may be rescheduled to alternative airports or changed by the airlines.

**Important:** Don’t assume your flight will depart from or arrive at Salerno. The actual airport will depend on the changes made by your airline.

🚌 **New direct bus between Naples and Salerno Airport**

To make travel easier for passengers, a special service has been introduced between Naples Central Station, in Piazza Garibaldi, and Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport.

The service runs every day from November 1 to 30, 2026.

**How much is a ticket?**

**Fare:** €12 per person, per journey.

**Frequency:** 8 services per day in each direction.

**Where to buy:** On board, with electronic payment, or at Busitalia-authorized sales outlets.

**Route:** Direct between Naples Central Station and Salerno Airport.

**Bus timetable**

The scheduled services from Naples Central Station to Salerno Airport are:

| Departure from Naples Central Station | Arrival at Salerno Airport |
|---|---|
| 05:00 | 06:15 |
| 06:00 | 07:15 |
| 10:30 | 11:45 |
| 12:30 | 13:45 |
| 14:30 | 15:45 |
| 16:30 | 17:45 |
| 18:30 | 19:45 |
| 19:30 | 20:45 |

Eight daily services are scheduled for the return journey from Salerno Airport to Naples Central Station, running between 08:20 and 22:20.

Timetables may be updated to reflect flight schedules. Before setting off, check the service’s official page on the Busitalia Campania website.

🚆 **Other ways to get to Salerno Airport**

The direct bus isn’t the only option. To assist passengers during Capodichino’s closure, connections between Salerno Airport and the city’s railway station have also been increased.

Services to Potenza, Eboli, Battipaglia and the Amalfi Coast will also continue to operate.

If you prefer to travel by train, you can take a train to Salerno and then check the timetable for the airport shuttle. Be sure to check connections and allow plenty of time, especially if you’re taking an international flight or departing early in the morning.

🧳 **Five tips to avoid problems**

1. **Check your flight ticket.** Confirm which airport is listed on your updated booking and in any messages from the airline.

2. **Don’t rely on outdated information.** If you had arranged transport to or from Capodichino, check all the details again before you travel.

3. **Arrange your transfer in advance.** If your flight has been moved to Salerno, allow enough time to reach Naples Central Station and catch the bus.

4. Allow plenty of extra time. With traffic, connections and possible schedule changes, it’s best to avoid transfers that leave you cutting it too close before your flight.

5. Follow official updates. In the event of schedule changes, cancellations or airport changes, check with your airline and the airports’ official websites.
