HISTORY
The basilica of the Incoronata Mother of Good Counsel and Queen of the Catholic Church is one of the basilicas of Naples. It stands in the Capodimonte area and was built based on the model of the basilica of St. Peter in Rome, both in the exterior (including the dome) and in the interior, so much so that it is also known as "The little St. Peter's". A splendid structure built in 1920 and completed after 40 years. Popular culture has it that during the earthquake of 1980, the marble bust depicting the Madonna placed on the top of the facade came off, falling standing up and without suffering any damage. In reality, the statue, in full figure, split into two parts and the upper part, the bust, fell from the pediment of the church onto the staircase without injuring anyone passing by and in turn broke into two parts, the torso (with the Child in her arms) and the head.
ADVICE: To be visited with the Catacombs of San Gennaro (located nearby the entrance).
