Boardwalk for the disabled and free showers... a great achievement for the bathers at Mappatella Beach, at Rotonda Diaz in Naples.
A popular beach where those who cannot afford a private beach have always found refuge.
I remember the folkloric traits of the past, with improvised tents, beach chairs brought from home, inner tubes as life preservers, and the inevitable macaroni frittata for lunch.
It was a pleasure to see so many people preparing on their own to take a swim in the waters of Mappatella beach.
We have deep respect for the bathers and for those who have left this now historic stretch of free beach open!
